I've tried another brand of mats but those were relatively easy to cut. They seem to be more like straw. The Munetoshi Tatami Omote Mats are an excellent value. My friend & I have cut numerous Munetoshi Tatami Omote Mats. We've cut single mats, double mats & triple mats. All sizes cut consistently. Also the “soak time” is very quick. I've soaked mats for 4hrs & all the way up to 25hrs. I did not notice that much of a difference in the longer soak time. This is a plus if you decide at the last second that you feel like dispatching some rogue Tatami Warriors. Try them out for yourself. I like them.

The mats were fine, but the order was bad. No mats for my grandsons birthday, arrived over a week late as the order was never taken care of until I placed a phone call and found out the order had not been taken care of.
