Description Item Specs
Bishamon is the Japanese Kami (or God) of war and evil. He is the patron of the warriors of Japan as well as the punisher of the evil. He is one of the Seven Gods of Fortune, according to Shinto belief. He is also one of the Four Guardian Gods protecting one of the Cardinal points, the North. According to legend he was called upon and came to the Prince Shotoku in 587 during the anti-Buddhist clans of Japan.

This is the Nagamaki. The length of the handle gives the sword superb leverage increasing the cutting power. The tang of the sword runs almost the entire length of the Tsuka. This is an impressive Katana perfect for display but also fully functional.

The katana includes a FREE sword bag but 1 tier sword stand is not included.
  • Blade: The blade has been hand forged with high carbon steel, hammered out so that the carbon is evenly distributed throughout the blade for a consistent hardness. A Bo-Hi has been added down the entire length of the blade with an additional Bo-Hi running down half the length of the blade. The two Bohi reduce the weight of the blade as well as provide audible feedback. A false edge has been added to the point of the blade The blade is full tang and comes very sharp.
  • Saya: The Saya is wooden with a high gloss black finish. A cotton sageo has been tied around the wooden Kurigata. The Koiguchi has been hardened and reinforced.
  • Tsuba: The Habaki is a one piece steel construction over a brass Seppa. The actual tsuba is blackened iron constructed in the profile of a fearsome Kami.
  • Tsuka: The Tsuka is massive with black Same (ray skin) and black cotton ito. The tang runs almost the entire length of the handle with three bamboo Mekugi. Two oxidized copper Menkui are one each side of the Tsuka.

I just received mine(great delivery time) today and I love it already. Longer than I expected it to feel, but I'm putting it to use already. It isn't an excellent sword, but is great for the price plus it comes sharp, but needs further sharpening for a more proficient stroke. Overall I love it

Impressive and intimidating September 7, 2012

Just got in my Nagamaki today.  Packaging tube was awesome and I plan on keeping for sword storage.  Timely delivery as always.  I am impressed.  Fittings are tight and no rattle in the Saya.  I especially like the black ray skin.  No dings or scratches.  Blade needs sharpening, but what a blade it is.  I am unsure who the manufacture is.  SwordNArmory has impressed me again.

Unbelievable value for money! November 24, 2011

haven't spent a lot of time with it yet but is amazing!
The blade length seems a little short in comparison to the tsuka, but the tang is a good length I believe, and I am short! so this is actually beneficial to me, but may not be to a taller person who trains in a long sword dojo as I do- in fact, it just won't be appropriate to you in that case, but shorter iaidoka rejoice!!
Balance feels good, the tsuka is excellent, tsuka ito good for the price, the saya great quality for a budget sword, I really like the tsuba as well, and the koshira and fuchi .. haven't cut with it yet.

Probably one of the nicest under 100$ swords ive bought, though the sword is massive the blade is actually shorter than your average katana, but the blade is obviously well constrcted
