The blade of JH-3301BK is the same as JH-3301RD.

Hanakotoba is the Japanese language of flowers. Flowers have been featured prominently in Japanese culture through the ages and were highly regarded by the samurai. Different meanings were ascribed to each flower, and flower arranging was considered a great meditative art.

Akihana is rich with flower language symbolism and steeped in samurai culture. The tsuba features two samurai family crests of the Takigawa and Maeda clans. It also features cherry blossoms and plum blossoms, which speak of life’s beauty and of living life well in the autumn years. The ito, sageo and saya are all a dignified, courtly black The menuki are ascended dragons, guardians of the elements. The blade itself is forge folded with itami and mokume hada and features an authentic, clay tempered hamon. This sword is a fantastic middleweight cutting sword and is perfect for tameshigiri, advanced iaido, or just as an elegant and functional addition to any collection.

The tsuka features katatemaki battle wrap, which is comfortable in the hands and has a clean look. Katatemaki is a one-handed style and was often seen on the battlefield. The itomaki on this sword was completed at our workshop by our in-house tsukamakishi and this wrap style will be a limited run. Please allow three days for processing.

Features

Blade: The blade of the sword has been forge folded with 1065 carbon steel and a 1040 carbon steel core. The blade features 4,000 layers of steel. The grain pattern is Ayasugi-hada at the Shinogiji with Itame-hada along the Ji and inside the hamon. The hamon has been authentically created with a Gunome pattern. The Nioi line of the hamon is very crisp with small Nie crystals running along the entire hamon. It has medium niku, which makes it a great moderate-to-heavy target cutter for tameshigiri.
The tip of the blade comes in Chu-Kissaki with a Kaeri-Fukashi Boshi.
The blade is full tang and very sharp.
Saya: Saya has been lacquered black and has a glossy finish.
Tsuka: The Tsuba is blackened iron with two cut out flowers painted golden. The Fuchi and Kashira are also blackened iron. The Tsuka features double pinned Mekugi and brass Menuki. The Tsuka features genuine Same (ray skin) with black chemical fiber ito Tsukamaki in Katatemaki, or 'battle wrap' style.

Holy Crap. i just received mine a couple of weeks ago but just got to open it. this is possibly the best looking sword i have ever seen for the price i paid. the grain is visible but not over the top and the hamon is so clear and beautiful. there was only one tiny (almost invisible) scratch right up aginst the habaki, and a couple of swirl marks on the saiya. the only problem was that the oil jar in the cleaning kit came open and the oil soaked into the powder ball (no big deal i have 3 cleaning kits already). awsome job guys keep up the good work with this house brand and i will keep buying them.
