This is the massive hand forged Nodachi sword, or "field sword". The sword was carried by foot soldiers as a counter measure against cavalry attacks. The massive blade would be wielded by two men to cut the legs out from under charging attacks. However, by a skilled and powerful warrior the sword could be used by a single man and had the potential to cut both horse and man apart in a single stroke.

During times of peace the sword would be carried by high ranking Samurai as a sign of status. Due to its length the sword would be carried on the Samurai's back. Although this sword was slow, in the correct hands the sword was unstoppable.

This is a reproduction of the massive Nodachi. The sword has been made from 440 Stainless Steel. This mighty sword is spectacular to behold and would grace any collection.

Features

Blade: The blade of the sword has been made from 440 Stainless Steel with an aesthetic hamon running down the edge. The blade is built massive and comes sharpened.
Scabbard: The scabbard of the sword is wooden with a high gloss burgundy finish. A black sageo has been tied around the copper kurigata of the scabbard. The scabbard throat has been constructed from blackened steel.
Guard: The blade collar is blackened steel. The actual guard is a circular design with a complex dragon cut out design.
Handle: The handle is wooden with a steel fuchi securing the handle to the guard. Another blackened steel fitting separated the handle into sections. The pommel of the handle is simple solid design.

Thought the sword was quite neat when I first saw it but when it came the problems soon began to show. It took a good 2 minutes too get the sword out of the scarab but wasen't worried because its a a big sword. But once out the the sword was very unbalanced. It seems to be able to hold up under it own weight onve out of the scarab. The blade dosen't run into the handle enough to hold the blade properly and if held sideways im sure the sword would break if moved. This is just a display piece in every way. wouldn't even swing it infear of it snapping. Ok for the money.
