Description Item Specs   “One who lives in forgetfulness dies in a dream.”                                                                                          --Zen Proverb. A rustle in the Sea of Trees, emerging in soundless shadows that move swiftly through the moonless night. Silent swords, welded by ghostly assassins leave not a trace of their presence, save for the corpses in their wake. Such violence can only result in one thing: the creation of a vengeful ghost. Yurei is a sword fit for an assassin. This exceptional shinobigatana features a thread wrapped saya with leather accents, a black sukashi bamboo tsuba and black leather itomaki over black lacquered same with a large emperors node. The menuki are three family mons in steel and the fushigashira are antiqued bronze. The blade is T10 with an authentic clayed hamon and is 23” long in regular 10.5” length tsuka and 29” saya. This is a strong quick cutting blade in unusual and elegant koshirae and is also an exceptional sword for practitioners of ninjutsu. Note: This sword is out of stock, but similar customs can be built per customer specification. Please allow three weeks for processing.   Features Blade: The blade of the Shinobigatana is a Munetoshi original. It has been constructed from T10 steel in a Maru lamination. The hamon has been authentically created and features a Doran pattern with a strong Nie line. The Kissaki is a Chu-Kissaki (medium length tip) with a Ko-Maru turn back in the Boshi. The blade is full tang and very sharp. Saya: The Saya features a full-length black cotton thread wrap with leather accents made of ito from Fred Lohman Co. and brass-fitted kurigata. These were applied by hand in our workshop by our tsukamakishi. Tsuka: The Tsuba is made by CAS Hanwei and has been constructed from black steel in a sukashi bamboo design. The Tsuka features a double pinned Mekugi and steel Menuki. The tsuka is covered in black lacquered samegawa (ray skin) with a large emperor node and is wrapped in black leather ito from the Fred Lohman Co. This work was also done in our workshop by our tsukamakishi. This sword was one of four of our originally produced Nisshoku ko-katanas. It is one of kind and will not be duplicated. It is truly an original, functional work of art.
