The tiger was the nemesis of the dragon in Japanese folklore. Tiger kami were called upon by some famous warlord damiyos before marching into battle. The tiger was considered very powerful and was praised in folktales for its strength. Likewise, the wakizashi was also important to the samurai. Katana were not allowed to be worn indoors, so the samurai would wear the wakazashi in its stead.

Our Warring Tiger is a custom that brings together the lore of the tiger and the importance of the wakazashi. The blade is one of our own Munetoshi Wakizashis that has been customized by our tsukamakishi at our workshop. The tsuba and fuchigashira prominently feature beautiful tigers in the mountains, while the menuki feature warring samurai. The itomaki has been done in the katatemaki, or battle wrap style. This is a one of a kind piece and will have no duplicates.

Features

Blade: The blade of the sword is one of our own Munetoshi blades and has been constructed from T10 Steel in mono steel. It has been differentially hardened by packing a clay solution on the spine, being heated and finally quenched in spring water. The combination of the quenching and the clay cover creates a significant temperature difference in the Ha and the rest of the sword. The hamon is authentic and runs all the way from the tip of the Kissaki to the Hamachi.
The Hamon is a Gunome pattern. The sword comes full tang and sharp.
Saya: The saya is wooden, lacquered to an elegant gloss black and features brass kurigata fittings. The sageo is chemical fiber.
Tsuka: The Tsuba is made by Hanwei and features a tiger on a riverbank, surrounded by a bamboo and pine forest. The fuchi matches this scene with a tiger on the prowl. The tsuka core is wooden with authentic white samegawa (ray skin) under black itomaki in katatemaki, or battle wrap style. The menuki feature two samurai in battle. The kashira rounds out the theme, featuring another prowling tiger.
