In Japanese culture the crane is a symbol of faithfulness and longevity. The crane was so loved in feudal Japan that the ruling class protected the crane. By the Kamakura period the crane was associated with peace and prayers for those lost in war. This association was based on a legend in which a feudal lord set loose hundreds of cranes, each with a prayer strip attached to its leg, to celebrate a successful battle and pray for the dead.

The Dancing Crane is a very light weight and fast blade designed to perform trick cuts and Nukitsuke. There is very slight Niku on the blade so it cuts very clean, however, don't let the light weight of the blade fool you into thinking the blade is not tough. The T10 carbon steel and strong geometry insures that the blade can take a decent amount of punishment and keep on cutting. The blade is very capable of taking on multiple tatami mats and the light weight insures that the cuts will be very swift. Nukitsuke techniques performed with the katana are very fast and clean. Double cuts are a breeze to perform due to the light weight of the blade and the thin Ha finish.

Features

Blade: The blade of the Katana has been constructed from T10 carbon steel with a bo-hi. The hamon has been authentically created and features a Gunome design with a prominent Nioi line. The Kissaki is a Chu-Kissaki design with a Midare-komi turn back.
The blade comes full tang and very sharp.
Saya: The Saya features a glossy black lacquered finish and bull horn Koiguchi. The Sageo is black chemical fiber.
Tsuka: The Tsuba is blackened steel in a cut out sukashi design of the "dancing crane". The Tsuka features two smoked bamboo Mekugi. The Ito is black chemical fiber. The Same is white ray skin with large emperor nodes. The Fuchigashira are antiqued alloy with a crane theme.
