The cannon changed the face of naval warfare. For 3,000 years Naval warfare has existed, which makes sense due to the reliance most nations had on water for transportation. Since the broadside of the ships were reinforced, the tactic for destroying a ship, while sustaining the lest amount of damage, was to fire at the front or back of the ships.
