Hand Forge Folded Tang Dao Sword

This is a beautiful, reproduction of a Tang Dao Sword. The sword is constructed from all authentic materials from this period. The guard and fittings are simplistic with flowers and vines and are cast in brass. The handle and scabbard are well-fitted to the blade and made of hardwood.

Features

Attributes of the Weapon:
Blade: The blade of the sword has been forge folded. This technique can be easily seen by the unique patterning of the steel on the blade. This blade has a subtle grain. This is a more traditional approach to forge folding, the water mark is allowed to be shown off in its own natural beauty.
After the blade has been undergone its rough forging the blade is then tempered and quenched. The tempering and quenching process insures the blades hardness and its ability to retain a sharp edge. This process is essential to the swords construction and in this aspect this sword stands above most others.
After the foring process has been completed the sword has been hand polished to bring out the grain of the steel.
The blade is full tang with a HRC of 56 with a false upper edge. The sword is fully functional and very sharp. The blade of the sword would be excellent for tameshigiri.
Scabbard: The Scabbard fits the sword seamlessly and is made of hardwood. It features elegant brass fittings, a black hanger cord and is varnished black.
Guard: The Guard fits seamlessly over the scabbard throat. In the middle of the guard and on either side, is flowers.
Handle: The handle is hard wood, over the tang of the blade. The wood is straight and fitted nicely to the hand. There are brass flowers and a brass tassel hanger and black tassel on the black varnished handle as well. The pommel of the sword is an intricate pattern of leaves and vines.

The blade is beautiful. Very sharp, great quality. The sword is a bit heavy at the tip. Balance point is makes movements more work for 2.5lbs. Fittings are fair quality.
