This is the sword of Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty. He is considered by many to be one of the greatest Emperor's in Chinese history. During his reign he doubled China's territory, surpassing the territory of the Roman Empire. Almost all of the territory added by the Emperor remained in China till the modern day. Emperor Wu also was the first Emperor to actively support and encourage Confucianism. This change was pivotal to the history of China. Confucianism would remain an intrinsic part of Chinese politics until 1911.

Features

Blade: The blade was constructed by the forge folding method. The high carbon steel edge forms a core with medium carbon steel sandwiching it. These pieces are known as Cheeks. The Cheeks are composed of altering layers of steel. These layers create a distinct pattern on the surface of the blade. The result of this forging method is similar to a Japanese Katana where the sword that is exceptionally hard yet still flexible.
The blade features a hybrid polish and very sharp edge.
Scabbard: The scabbard is masterfully done with the wood contouring to the shape of the sword. The pommel of the scabbard is brass with a dragon face on each side and a Chinese square pattern on the bottom. A black cord wrap is tied around the upper half of the sword with a brass carrying clip featuring two dragons in bold relief. The scabbard throat has been seamlessly fitted to the guard.
Guard: The Guard is a replica of the actual sword used by the Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty in 156 BC. The scroll work is historically one of the most beautiful in Chinese history...the style named after this dynasty. The scroll work and cut out design is reminiscent of the simplistic beauty and prestige of the Han Dynasty. The guard is a cut out design with a hollow that houses the beginning of the blade and cut out dragons on each side.
Handle: The handle is wood over the tang of the sword, tapering down from the pommel to the blade. A black cord is wrapped over the length of the handle with a criss cross at the bottom and thick wind at the top. The pommel of the sword is solid brass with three dragons entwined in deep relief. The center of the dragons is so expertly cast that it appears that the dragons are floating over the brass of the pommel.
