The Tiger has always been a symbol of power and strength. Their ferocity and unpredictable attacks make the tiger a terrifying opponent to face. Even the mighty Dragon is given a run for its money when it squares off against a tiger. Few animals can better represent the Samurai than the tiger.

This is the Hand Forged Tiger Claw Katana. The sword has been masterfully forged using the ancient method of Japanese forging. All parts of the Katana are authentic and created according to tradition. The sword is full tang and fully functional.

The Katana includes: A Sword Bag, Collectors Box, and Certificate of Authenticity.

Features

Blade: The blade of the sword has been forged using 1060 high carbon steel. Following tradition the blade has been hand forged using a Maru Lamination. The blade has an HRC of 57 degrees.
Further harden the blade it has been differentially tempered. This is achieved by quenching the blade of the sword. A clay covering has been used to cover the body of the blade with the Ha (cutting edge) left exposed. The sword was then heated in the forge and dipped into water. The clay covering let the body of the sword cool more slowly than the Ha.
Due to this process the Ha became extremely hard. The actual molecules of the Ha expanded, bending back the rest of blade to give the sword its signature curve. This process also created the hamon of the sword. The spine of the sword was hardned in the quenching, but still remained flexible in comparison to the Ha.
The blade has a Masame Hada (grain pattern on the blade) and Nie crystals along the Hamon. The Kissake is standard length. The blade is full tang and comes razor sharp. This sword is fully functional.
Saya: The Saya is wooden with a black high gloss finish. A silk Sage-o has been tied around the copper Kurigata. The Koi-Guchi has been constructed from black bull horn.
Tsuba: The Habaki is a one piece brass construction with the Musashi logo imprinted into the brass. A copper Seppa secures the blade of the sword in the Tsuba. The actual Tsuba is aged brass with a square design. A scene of forest decorates one side of the Tsuba in relief. On the opposite side is a tiger stalking through the bamboo. A second copper Seppa secures the blade to the Tsuka.
Tsuka: The Fuchi is also brass with another forest scene. The Tsuka core is wooden with a Ray Skin Same and a black silk Ito. A single bamboo Mekugi secures the tang of the sword in the Tsuka. Two brass Menuki can be found on each side of the Tsuka. The Menuki are cast in the likeness of tigers. The Kashira is brass with a running tiger.
