The Bushido 'Beater' is perfect for the beginning sword practitioner and beginning backyard cutter. The swords are tough through hardened 1065 steel for under $100. The blades feature slight Niku to reinforce the cutting edge, but is slight enough to still perform very clean cuts. A Bohi has been added to the top of the blade to give audible feedback when the sword is swung correctly and to make it lighter and faster. The Beater is capable of light to medium tameshigiri.

Features

Blade: The blade of the Beater has been constructed from through hardened 1065 Carbon Steel. An aesthetic hamon runs along the Ha of the blade. A Bo-hi has been added to the blade to make it lighter and therefore, quicker.
The blade comes full tang and very sharp.
Saya: The Saya of the katana is wood with a black glossy finish. The word 'Bushido' has been carved into the wood of the scabbard. The Kanji for Bushido has been carved into the opposite side of the Saya.
Tsuka: The Tsuba is blackened steel alloy with a sukashi (cut-out) crane. The Tsuka features a double pinned Mekugi and brass Menuki with genuine Same (ray skin) and is wrapped in black chemical fiber Ito. The Fuchi and Kashira are blackened steel alloy.

I've had this katana for a couple of weeks now, and have found that this is hand-down the best katana for the price. It cuts light targets (Bottles) like a laser. It cuts tatami mats like butter, and I have even cut several dried (hard) bamboo with it with exceptional results. Even with a couple of misaligned cuts and hitting the stand, the blade is still in perfect condition! Fittings are also top notch for the money. Can't go wrong. I have a shirakawa Musashi and prefer this to it.
