This is the Ti Lung or Water Dragon. The Ti Lung is one of four types of Asian dragons. The four types of dragons are categorized by the domains they protect. The Ti Lung is the Earth Dragon and protects not only the land of the Earth but also all the waters. Unlike the other dragons of the world, the Asian dragon is a benevolent creature full of wisdom and kindness. However, do not upset the dragon because the consequences can be colossal. Some of the worst natural catastrophes on China were attributed to mortals upsetting the dragons.

Features

Blade: The blade of the sword has been hand made with High Carbon Steel. The Carbon has been hammered out through the blade so that it has a universal hardness throughout the entire blade. A Bo-Hi has been added to the top of the blade to even out the weight and give audible feedback. The sword comes full tang with an Chu-Kissake.
Saya: The scabbard of the sword is wooden with a high gloss black finish. The black cotton sage-o is tied around a copper Kurigata. The Koi-guchi is black bull horn.
Tsuba: The Tsuba is blackened copper with a water dragon in relief. The Habaki of the sword is a one piece brass construction. Two brass Seppas secure the blade in the Tsuka.
Tsuka: The Fuchi is a scene of mountains with a mounted Bushi. The Tsuka is wooden with an imitation ray skin Same. A black cotton Ito has been wrapped over the ray skin Same. Blackened copper Menuki are on each side of the Tsuka rendered as dragons. Two bamboo Mekugi secure the tang into the Tsuka. The Kashira is a relief of waves in blackened steel.

I ordered this katana because I heard good things about this inexpensive sword. I was not disappointed. When I took it out of the bag the sword fell out of the scabbard (saya) which is very dangerous. During shipping the habaki (collar in front of the hand guard, the tsuba) wore out the openning of the saya (koiguchi). The sword should fit tight into the saya. I repaired this. The sword was suppose to be very sharp but I found it to be about a 6 on a scale of 1 to 10. I put an edge on it with a carbide sharpner and honed it with a diamond tool. I was able to shave hair off my forearm and it keep it's edge after a number of cuttings. I went through water bottles and a tatama (mat) with ease. The tachi kaze (wind sound) really impressed me, with a moderate swing it made a better sound than several $200 swords I have. There are better looking inexpensive katanas out there but not built as well. I would recommened this sword to anyone as a entry level katana. It is worth the money.

I didn't get the original item I ordered so Ihad to settle for something else and I didn't get the free stand that was offered for the inconvenience.
As for the quality of the product I did receive - it was top notch. Very pleased for the price.
