The Sakura has always been closely associated with the Samurai. The Sakura blossom is beautiful but with a very short life span, very similar to the Samurai. There are legends of the Samurai questing after this blossom. They would go through unimaginable hardship to find the perfect Sakura Blossom.

Features

Blade: The blade of the sword has been hand made with High Carbon Steel. The Carbon has been hammered out through the blade so that it has a universal hardness throughout the entire blade. A Bo-Hi has been added to the top of the blade to even out the weight and give audible feedback. The sword comes full tang with an Chu-Kissake.
Saya: The scabbard of the sword is wooden with a high gloss black finish. The black cotton sage-o is tied around a copper Kurigata. The Koi-guchi is black bull horn.
Tsuba: The Tsuba is blackened copper with a cut design of Sakura Blossoms. The Habaki of the sword is a one piece brass construction. Two brass Seppas secure the blade in the Tsuka.
Tsuka: The Fuchi is a scene of mountains with a mounted Bushi. The Tsuka is wooden with an imitation ray skin Same. A black cotton Ito has been wrapped over the ray skin Same. Blackened copper Menuki are on each side of the Tsuka rendered as dragons. Two bamboo Mekugi secure the tang into the Tsuka. The Kashira is a relief of waves in blackened steel.

This Katana is solid. I just finished doing my preliminary testing. It passes my testing. It is solid and cuts through test objects. My first experience with a Musha Katana. 100% satisfied! Good for home defense.

I have bought two of these. The first, when I got it the seppa was so loose that is rattled every time the sword was drawn. Then while doing some cutting on water-filled plastic bottled, the tsuka actually snapped in two. Turns out the tang actually ends a good three to four inches from the end of the weapon, with just a hollow tube making up the rest. Sword broken, I bought my second one. I figured that being handmade, maybe my first was just a fluke. I took the new one out of the box, and the kashira just fell off. It was attached to a screw that went an inch or so into the tsuka, and in the case of this weapon, the hole was too big for the screw, and the entire screw and kashira just fall out.

Bottom line, the blade is good for the price, and it is beautiful to look at, but it is so poorly constructed that I recommend passing on this one.

it's beautiful and is sharp, a little tough to remove the mekugi & tsuka at first but after that it's all good & it got here quick to, just wish the fedex guy would have knocked...anyway YaY I got my katana! 5/5
