In the study of Japanese sword arts, speed and precision are critical. Duels ended quickly with the faster, more skilled swordsman being the one to walk away. In modern times, Japanese sword arts have moved beyond the practical and become arts of exercise and meditation, helping the practitioner to hone their bodies, minds and spirits.

If one wishes to pursue study of Japanese sword arts, one must first acquire a good beginner's sword. In iaido specifically, beginners all start with iaito, or unsharpened swords. This allows practitioners to practice with what is, for all intents and purposes, a real sword, and helps get them used to weight, balance, safety and maintenance procedures without the danger element a sharpened blade brings. It is always best to start with a light iaito and work up to heavier swords as muscle tone and skill level increase.

This stainless steel iaito is perfect for both beginning and advanced students of iaido who are looking for something a little heavier. It is made of stainless steel, giving it the weight and feel of a real sword. It features a prominent bo hi which offers an audible whistle when edge alignment is correct. It’s also aesthetically pleasing; it features a lovely etched hamon, sukashi tsuba, real ray skin and chemical fiber ito.

Detailed Specs of the Iaito:
Blade: The blade of the iaito has been constructed from stainless steel and features a bo hi. An aesthetic hamon has been added to the blade.
The iaito comes full tang and unsharpened.
Saya: The saya of the iaito has been constructed from wood with a ishime black lacquer finish. The koiguchi and sayajiri features bull horn. The sageo is black chemical fiber.
Tsuka: The tsuba has been constructed from steel with a black finish in a sukashi style. The tsuka features a double pinned mekugi and paulownia menuki. The ito is green chemical fiber over ray skin samegawa.

I received advise from Master Pumarejo on what I should look for and he also said that your products were very value-oriented.
My new sword came quickly; was packaged very well and I was happy with value for my money. I have just started practicing with it. The weight is more than I am used to but I believe that will only help in my training.
I will definitely recommend your site to others at the dojang.

This is a perfect iato. The balance is superb, the handle is better than on my more expensive swords. I haven't owned any of the more expensive (CAS, Cold Steel, etc), but I don't see how they could be any better. Whether you're a serious iado practitioner or simply want to own something beautiful I cannot recommend this more highly, you will be very pleased.
