Description Item Specs   Kenshin Handmade Samurai Sword Katana W/ Gift Box Overall Length:42.5 " Blade:Sharpened Blade Length:29 " Blade Materials:High Carbon Steel Handle Length:13.25 " Fittings:Blackened Steel Condition:Brand New Handle Material: Ray skin Wrapped Features Blade: The blade of the sword has been hand made with High Carbon Steel. The Carbon has been hammered out through the blade so that it has a universal hardness throughout the entire blade. A Bo-Hi has been added to the top of the blade to even out the weight and give audible feedback. The sword comes full tang with an O-Kissake. Saya: The scabbard of the sword is wooden with black matte finish. The black cotton sage-o is tied around a copper Kurigata. Tsuba: The Tsuba is blackened steel with a kanji etched into the steel. On the reverse side of the Tsuba is Uesugi Kenshin. The Habaki of the sword is a one piece brass construction. Tsuka: The Tsuka is wooden with a ray skin Same and black cotton Ito. Good but not as described February 6, 2012 Reviewer: Adam Novath from Gary, IN United States   Just got the sword today and I have to admit I'm a little disapointed the item description and specs are not acurate. the blade is not 29" it is 27", the Tsuka (handle) is not 13.25" it is a about 10.25", the Saya (scabbard), Tsuka-maki (handle wrapping), and Sageo (scabbard cord) are not blue they are flat black, the Kurigata (belt knob) is not copper it looks like wood with a gold colored Shitodome, and the hamon is wire brush on meaning it is not differentially hardened. But the Koshirae (fittings) are nice. I think this is a Musashi sword it says "Musha" on the Seppa which is not a problem. The Tsuka (handle) is also too long for the Nakago (tang) due to the fact that the Nakago is only 7" long while the Tsuka is about 10 1/4" Was this review helpful to you?
