In Japanese culture the dragonfly symbolizes courage and strength as well as martial success. The dragonfly is an intrinsic part of Japanese culture. In fact, the ancient mythological name for Japan was Akitsushima (land of the dragonfly). It only seems appropriate that the Samurai would adorn their swords with dragonflies in the hopes of reinforcing their courage and strength.

This is the Ko Tonbo or Little Dragonfly Wakizashi. The Wakizashi has been constructed from tough T10 steel and differentially hardened. Utilizing the same crisp geometry as the Akitsushima, the Wakizashi is fully capable of not only taking on wara tatami but also tatami omote mats. A bo-hi has been added to the blade of the wakizashi to decrease the weight and increase the speed. The results are fast, smooth cuts through light to medium targets.

This is the component Wakizashi for the Akitsushima.

The Wakizashi includes a cleaning kit, gift box and sword bag.

Features

Blade: The blade of the Wakizashi has been constructed from T10 carbon steel. The hamon has been authentically created and features a Gunome design with a prominent Nie line. The Kissaki is a Chu-Kissaki design with a Midare-komi turn back.
The blade comes full tang and very sharp.
Saya: The Saya features a glossy black lacquered finish and bull horn Koi-guchi.
Tsuka: The Tsuba is blackened steel in cut out Sukashi design with a dragonfly and cat tails. The Tsuka features a single smoked bamboo Mekugi. The Same is crisp white ray skin with a black chemical fiber Ito. The Fuchikashira features dragonflies against an antiqued background.

a beautiful made sword with prominant hamon. razor sharp, with many exras. i will keep this as collecter, although it would make a good cutter.
