The Takemori is the most versatile differentially hardened traditional cutter in the sub $300 market. Our goal was to create a sword that could take on heavy targets and the trick cuts with the same level of efficiency. The trick was found in creating a blade with minimal niku while still being able to have the strength to cut multiple tatami omote mats and green bamboo. The minimal niku allows the blade to slide through targets with very little bite.

However, the slight niku presents the problem of strength in the blade. The solution to this problem was using T10 carbon steel. T10 is a tool steel that is the same hardness as 1095 carbon steel, but with alloys in the steel to make it much more resilient. We became firm believers in the quality of T10 after using the Kill Bill blades for months on end and putting the blade through everything from our cutting stand to asphalt, and finding surprisingly little damage to the blades. We also found that the T10 was exceptional at retaining an edge.

The balance point of the blade sits right at 5.5 ” from the tsuba. This allows the blade to lead the cut without being too tip heavy. The blade is differentially hardened with an excellent heat treat and gunome style hamon. This is by far our most consistent cutter in the Munetoshi line.

The sword is perfect for a backyard cutter's budget while maintaining the quality required for any serious martial artist.

Features

Blade: The blade of the Katana has been constructed from T10 carbon steel. The hamon has been authentically created and features a Gunome design with a prominent Nie line. The Kissaki is a Chu-Kissaki design with a Midare-komi turn back.
The blade comes full tang and very sharp.
Saya: The Saya features a glossy black lacquered finish and bull horn Koiguchi. The Sageo is dark blue chemical fiber.
Tsuka: The Tsuba is blackened steel in a cut out sukashi design of Pampas grass. The Tsuka features two smoked bamboo Mekugi. The Ito is dark blue chemical fiber with hishigami. The Same is white ray skin with large nodes. The Fuchigashira are antiqued alloy with a bamboo theme.

This sword is simple and elegant. It is quite sharp and durable as well. I have tortured this sword and only done minimal damage to the blade. This sword cuts through tatami like butter. The only damage I managed to do to it was I accidently chipped the blade when following through a cut and hitting a piece of angle iron in my garage. This was entirely my fault for not moving it out of the way before my cutting session. The chip is small and has not affected the performance of the blade at all. This is the toughest sword I have found for the price and it holds it's edge very well and has good flexability. It is very well built and is excellent for anyone doing alot of cutting. I will definitely be buying 2 or 3 more munetoshi swords in the future. This is the only sword I have cut with since I got it. It is well balanced and handles beautifuly. Excellent sword!!!
