Description Item Specs

This is footage from our test cuts with A Musashi Brand 1060 Sword. The Sword is a sub $100 but still held up to single-rolled Wara Mats.

The sword includes a Sword Bag.

  • Blade: The blade of the sword has been constructed from 1060 high carbon steel with a Maru lamination and has been heat treated. The sword has a uniform hardness throughout the blade. The Kissaki is well defined with an aesthetic hamon down the length of the blade. The blade features a Bohi, to lower the weight and give audible feedback when the sword is swung. The sword comes razor sharp and full tang.
  • Saya: The Saya is wooden with a black high gloss finish. The Kurigata is wooden with shiny brass fittings. Tied around the Kurigata is a black sageo. The Koiguchi has been hardened via laquering.
  • Tsuba: The blade is secured by a one piece brass Habaki. The actual Tsuba is blackened steel alloy with a beautiful sukashi (cut out) design. Two brass seppas secure the tsuba of the sword.
  • Tsuka: The Fuchi is blackened steel with a dragon. The Tsuka core is wooden with authentic Same and black cotton Ito. The tang is secured by two bamboo Mekugi. On each side of the Tsuka are bright brass menuki. The kashira is blackened steel with another dragon head.

Very nice August 16, 2010
Reviewer: John from Phila, PA
This is a very nice sword for the price.  Mine was very solid and ready to cut right out of the box.  The saya fit very well with only the slightest rattle.  The tsuka is very solid, but it does appear to be glued on and I don't want to break it (yet) in removal.  The hammon looks very real, but doesn't cross the yokote and is indeed fake as evidenced by the fact that it polishes right off.  The kissake is probably the best defined of my sub $100 swords.  It has the file-marks that I polished out, but the yokote is very crisp, straight and well defined.  This is a great sword for the price and I don't regret buying it, but if you can get the "Bamboo Warrior" for around the same price I would go with that.  It is now also made with 1060 carbon steel(like this sword), but has a real hammon that won't polish off and a removable-non glued tsuka.
