Item Specs

The Sakura Blossom has been closely tied to the life of the Samurai. Like the Samurai the blossoms lived a beautiful but short life. Due to this close association with the Samurai the Sakura came to represent fallen warriors who died bravely. This association with death and Sakura lasted through WWII when Kamakazi pilots would paint Sakura blossoms on their planes. Even to this day the police in Japan use the Sakura as their emblem.

Features

Blade: The blade of the steel has been hand crafted of high carbon steel. The carbon has been hand hammered throughout the blade to give the blade a consistent hardness. A Bohi has been added to the blade to better balance the blade and give audible feedback when the sword is swung. An aesthetic Hamon runs the length of the blade ending at the blade's Kissaki. The blade comes full tang and sharp.
Saya: The Saya of the sword has been constructed from wood with a shiny black gloss finish. A scene of Sakura blossoms has been painted in brilliant details across the Saya. A cord Sageo has been wrapped around the bright kurigata of the saya. The Koiguchi has been hardened with bull horn.
Tsuba: The Habaki is a single piece brass construction. Two copper Seppas secure the blade of the sword into the Tsuba. The Tsuba is a deep brass with a scene of a Japanese landscape.
Tsuka: The Fuchi another brass construction featuring a scene of crashing waves. The Tsuka core has been constructed from wood with Same and a black cord Ito. Two bamboo Mekugi secure the tang of the sword into the Tsuka. Two oxidized copper Menuki are on each side of the Tsuka in the likeness of birds in flight. The Kashira is features more crashing waves.

i love how it looks but the sword is so snug in the scabbard that it requires and unnecessary amount of force to get it out, as if someone is pulling the sword back while i pull forward. other than that it is a great sword, and for those wondering the sakuras on the scabbard are not inlaid.
