This is the newest addition to our pirate sword family, a pirate style cutlass with a solid design and intricate detail. The sword is almost perfectly balanced with a solid steel pommel and full wrap around basket guard. The fittings of the sword are very impressive with a detailed galley on the basket guard and a skull and cross bones on the scabbard throat. The sword was made to impress on all levels.

The Cutlass was a short slashing sword, ideal for the close- quarters battles aboard great sailing ships. It has developed a reputation as the pirate weapon of choice and this version by Denix exploits this connection, with the Skull-and-Crossbones emblazoned on the scabbard throat and a full-rigged pirate ship engraved on the hand guard.


A real pirate cutlass will have the hand guard, or "bell" on only one side, The reason for this is so that at night the sword could be fastened more securely to a wall, so all the rocking of the boat would not knock it down. Also, space was precious but you would still have wanted some hand defense. Because of this, these swords will mount quite well on a wall in your home!
