Spangenhelm Viking Medieval Knight Helmet

The term Spangenhelm literally translates to clips helmet in German. It is interesting that the name for the helmet is German since the helmet arrived in Europe from Central Asia during the dark ages. This was the helmet of the early Middle Ages. The Helmet continued to be used by archers well into the late Middle Ages.
