The Akitsushima is a very light weight and fast blade designed to perform trick cuts and Nukitsuke. There is very slight Niku on the blade so it cuts very clean, however, don't let the light weight of the blade fool you into thinking the blade is not tough. The T10 of the blade and strong geometry insures that the blade can take a decent amount of punishment and keep on cutting. The blade is very capable of taking on multiple tatami mats and the light weight means that the cuts will be very swift. Nukitsuke techniques performed with the katana are very fast and clean. Double cuts are a breeze to perform due to the light weight of the blade and the thin Ha finish. The crisp geometry and geometric kissaki makes this blade perfect for display.

Features

Blade: The blade of the Katana has been constructed from T10 in a Maru Lamination. The hamon of the blade has been authentically created and features a strong Notare pattern with traces of Yahzau. The Nie of the hamon is very well defined with strong activity within the Hamon.
The geometric kissaki is a Chu (medium style) style with a ko-maru turn back.
The blade comes full tang and very sharp.
Saya: Gold dust has been added to the burgundy finish of the Saya and then sealed with a clear lacquer finish.
Tsuka: The Tsuba is blackened Iron with a Sukashi style dragonfly and cat tails. The Tsuka features a double pinned Mekugi and a copper dragonfly Menuki. The Same is crisp white ray skin with a dark red chemical fiber Ito. The Ito features correct crossovers and hishigami.

Akitsushima is very well balanced and true to the stated specifications. The quality of workmanship is fine and about as close as one can get to a nihonto in the US without spending the thousands of dollars that a sword from Japan would cost. It will serve well in my practice of iaido. My only objections are that the saya is too tight for a smooth draw and the maru lamination could be upgraded, but for the price, I'm not at all disappointed.
