According to myth Achilles was such a force on the battle field that his absence allowed the Trojans to push back the Greek's attacks. After the death of Achilles closest friend, Patroclus, Achilles joined the battle in a rage. His skill as a warrior was so great, and his rage so fearsome, that the gods themselves had to intervene before Achilles single handedly destroyed Troy.
