This is the handmade samurai katana sword type 98 Gunto replica with black itomaki and black saya. Sword is detailed in the style of the Japanese Guntos carried during WWII. It features metal fittings and brown itomaki.

Features

Attributes of the Katana:
Blade: The blade is high-carbon steel and features a bohi.
Saya: The Saya has been constructed from hard wood and finished in a black lacquer with Gunto style brass fittings.
Tsuba: The Tsuba is alloy and is also made in Gunto style.
Tsuka: The Tsuka core is comprised of wood and features imitation ray skin. The entire handle is wrapped with black chemical fiber ito. The menuki are blackened brass and the fushigashira are alloy in the Gunto style, completing the theme.

This replica is fairly nice. The blade width feels and looks a tid thinner than other katanas which is more interesting than anything. The handwrap is ended with glue and the fittings on the saya are also glued on there.

I had to reapply glue to the saya fittings in order to prevent them from sliding up and down. The katana is also extremely tight inside the saya which makes it difficult to draw without using an unusual amount of force to unsheath.
