The sword makers at Ryujin offer you the opportunity to create a fully customizable made to order Samurai Katana to your own unique specifications. You can choose from a variety of blades, styles, materials, and colors. Let SNA guide you through the process of customizing your sword with just a few easy steps.
First, you need to select the type of blade you are going to want. Do you want a Bohi or No Bohi? The Bohi is known in the west as the fuller or the blood groove. If you are going to use your sword Tameshigiri (the art of mat cutting) you will want to select one of the T10 swords from the following list.
CSR271 is a 27.5" T10 blade with no Bohi (without fuller) and standard Hamon.
CSR272 is a 27.5" T10 blade with Bohi (with fuller) and standard Hamon.
CSR273 is a 27.5" T10 blade with no Bohi (without fuller) and special Choji Hamon pattern.
If you want an Iaito sword (for sword drawing or form practice) you will do well to select one of the Unsharpened Spring Steel blades.
CSR217 is a 27" Spring Steel blade with no Bohi (without fuller) and standard Hamon.
CSR227 is a 27" Spring Steel blade with Bohi (with fuller) and standard Hamon.
Second, you need to select a Tsuba (hand guard) from the drop-down menu.
You may pick any Tsuba from the drop down or you can elect to choose one not on the menu by adding the reference number for that Tsuba in the Special Request field at the end. You can find reference numbers to more Tsuba in the pictures to the left. There is also an extra option at the end to make your Tsuba shine bright with 24K gold accents.
Third, is the Tsuka (wooden handle) option. Again you simply follow the same instructions you used to pick your Tsuba. The Tsuka options give you color options for the silk wrapping that your swords handle will have. For the handle fittings, the default is a black steel. If you wish to have the alternative style of antiqued brass simply mention it in the special request field and we will swap them out for you. Handle with antiqued brass fittings is Only available with 11.5" length.
By default we use 11.5“ handle for 27.5" blade. If you need other combination, please put your request in the comment section.
