Takeda Shingen is considered to be one of the most powerful Daimyo of the Warring State Period of Japan. He is most famous for his rivalry with Uesugi Kenshin. Both Takeda and Kenshin were renowned for their martial skill on the battlefield. In a series of four battles the two Daimyo fought to a draw in almost every battle. The last battle between the two was reported to have the fiercest fighting. Kenshin broke through Takeda's lines and came after Takeda with his sword. Takeda fought Kenshin with only a steel war fan. At the end of the battle neither Daimyo had defeated the other. However, despite this battle as well as Takeda's victory over the combined armies of Nobunaga and Tokugawa, Takeda finally succumbed to old age and died 52. This a commemorative sword of Takeda Shingen and the Period of the Warring States.

  • Blade: The blade of the sword has been hand made with High Carbon Steel. The Carbon has been hammered out through the blade so that it has a universal hardness throughout the entire blade. A Bo-Hi has been added to the top of the blade to even out the weight and give audible feedback. The sword comes full tang with an O-Kissake.
  • Saya: The scabbard of the sword is wooden with a semi gloss black finish. The Sage-O is black cotton wrapped around a bright Kurigata. The Koi-guchi has been hardened.
  • Tsuba: The Tsuba is blackened copper with two scrolls of Kanji and clouds etched into the Copper. On the reverse side of the Tsuba is Takeda Shingen with his war fan. The Habaki of the sword is a one piece brass construction. Two bright copper Seppas secure the blade in the Tsuka.
  • Tuska: The Tsuka of the sword is Ray Skin with a black cotton wrap. The Menuki are oxidized copper dragons. Two bamboo Mekugi secure the blade in the Tsuka.
