The Katana is perfect for training and cutting. This sword was created specifically to take on tameshigiri. It was hand forged and crafted authentically in all aspects of its creation. All the fittings and parts are made with genuine material. The balance of the blade is perfect and the sword is completely functional. This is a masterpiece of recreating the ancient Katana.
Blade: The blade of the sword has been constructed from T10 High Carbon steel in a Maru style. In accordance with Japanese tradition, the blade has been treated with a clay covering, applied to the entire sword except the cutting edge. The blade is heated and quenched in spring water. The combination of the quenching and the clay cover creates a significant temperature difference in the Ha of the blade and the rest of the sword. The hamon is authentic all the way up to the tip.
The result is that the Ha cools much more quickly than the rest of the blade, the molecules of the Cutting edge expand and push back the softer steel of the blade creating the traditional Japanese curve.
The blade features Chu-Kisske.
Saya: The Saya has been constructed from wood with a high gloss redlacquer finish. A brown synthetic silk Sage-o has been tied around the bright copper Kurigata.
Tsuba: The Tsuba begins with a brass one piece Habaki. Two copper Seppas secure the blade of the sword. The Tsuba is a double ring design made with iron.
Tsuka: The Fuchi is black copper with a plain design. The Tsuka core is wooden with a blacken Ray Skin Same and brown chemical fiber Ito. Two Bamboo Mekugi secure the tang of the sword into the Tsuka. Two bright copper Menuki decorate each side of the Tsuka. The Kashira is polished black iron with two copper fittings.
