The Main Gauche first came into being during the Renaissance at the height of the Rapiers' use. It was a dagger created specifically to deflect thrust attacks from swords. The Main Gauche could also be used as a weapon when an opening presented itself. In French the words Main Gauche translates to "left hand."
  • Blade: The blade of the Main Gauche is 440 stainless steel with a cutout ricasso and fuller. The edge of the blade is slightly sharpened.
  • Scabbard: The scabbard is wooden with an imitation black leather wrap. The drag and scabbard throat are bright polished steel with a scroll work design. A belt bolt rests on the scabbard throat.
  • Guard: The guard is the "S" design guard with long cross arms. The quillon features a ring design.
  • Handle: The handle is wire wrapped. The pommel is polished steel with a sun burst and scroll work.
