Item Specs

This is the economical edition of the Musashi. However, this is still a top of the line blade for the price. The blade is hand crafted and very sharp with a good balance. The sword is full tang and can be disassembled.

Features

Blade: The blade has been constructed from through hardened high carbon steel with an aesthetic hamon.
The blade comes full tang and very sharp.
Scabbard: The scabbard of the sword is wooden with a high gloss black lacquer finish. Wrapped around the upper half of the scabbard is a black cotton sageo. The scabbard throat is blackened steel.
Guard: The guard of the sword begins with a bronze blade collar (Habaki). The actual guard is blackened steel in the double ring Musashi design.
Handle: The handle features cotton ito, imitation ray skin samegawa, and dull black fittings. The tang is secured by two bamboo mekugi.

I bought this sword on amazon.com before I realized it was cheaper here. Oh well. My biggest problem is the blade's metal is prone to bending very easily. It bends slightly even after milk jug cutting. Maybe its my technique, but if the sword were made better it wouldnt be doing that anyway. Milk jugs arent that demanding on a sword. Also, its edge dulls quickly.

Overall, this sword is worth even double the price and I still highly recommend this as a first functional sword or someone who just wants a very cheap functional sword, but isnt willing to spend a few hundred for a higher quality one.

This is, without a doubt, the highest quality functional katana you will find in this price range, period. Sharp enough for tameshigiri or water bottle slaying upon arrival, no saya rattle, tight ito, simple, quality koshirae (made from steel, not alloy!), and a tapered tsuka for positive grip!
The negatives:wire-brushed, cosmetic hamon (I would rather have nothing), fake same, cotton-rather than silk ito, steel tsuba rather than iron, non geometric yokote, bland koshirae. Okay, you do remember that we are talking about a sub eighty dollar sword, right? Real same alone would cost more than two times the price of this entire katana! The same thing goes in answer to all of the negs. You could pay more for a PLASTIC wall-hanger, but here you have a PERFECT "beater" that, if cared for (remember, these aren't stainless steel, they're real weapons) will last for years of suppressing the pool noodle rebellion and omote mat uprising! Have fun and please, please BE SAFE!!! God bless you!

the description makes it sound like it has a "real hamon". it does not. it has a wire brush faux hamon. all in all a great buy!,
solid fittings and a sharp blade.

Okay, so the sword itself is nice, tight fittings and doesn't slide out of the saya. The handle is wrapped nicely, really tight. The blade is sharp out of the box, but not "razor sharp" as it says, but i wasn't expecting it to be great out of the box. The blade comes with a bo-hi even though you can't see it in the pictures. The blade comes with grease on it to protect it during shipping and inside the ugly box was a really nice Musashi box. The sword shipped and only 4 days later i got it, the only thing I DIDN'T like was that for some reason it took them like 2 weeks to finish "processing" but they told me it was due to a problem with the web site. It comes with a sword bag and unfortunately no stand (like in the picture) but its not too important.
Overall I think it's a great buy I got it when it was on sale so it was even better. Would I buy from swordnarmory again? Sure, when they fix the "processing" issue. But either than that a great buy. You should buy one! Seriously.
