Ito is the traditional cord wrap on the handles of Japanese swords. This wrap serves many purposes, as it helps to reinforce the tsuka, improves grip and is aesthetically pleasing. It also lends a personal touch to the sword, as it comes in a wide variety of colors.

This is our imported Japanese cotton ito in black. Cotton is a very economical material, as it costs less than silk. It is also more traditional than chemical fiber.

Sold in increments of one foot.

Calculating the Length: The easiest method of calculating the length of Ito you need is to measure the length of your tsuka in inches. Then convert the inches into feet and add three additional feet. For example is you have an 11 inch tsuka then you would need 14 feet of Ito.

Adding Lengths: We sell the Ito by foot lengths. You can add additional feet to your order by adjusting the quantity on the right hand side of the screen next to the Add to Cart button. For example if you need 14 feet of Ito then you would type 14 in the Quantity box.
