This is the "Lion Heart" Great Shield. The coat of arms in the center of the shield are Richard the Lion Hearts three lions. The Back ground of the shield is dark polished steel. The shield is a combination of decorative beauty and stark simplicity. All the edges of the Shield are double reinforced with Steel.

Richard the Lion Heart is known as one of the great Warrior kings of England. Although, he was king of England he did not speak English, and was only in England for 6 months. The rest of his reign was on the battle field. He was known for his skilled military command and bravery. During his time he took parts of France, fought Sicily into truce, captured Cyprus and almost captured Jerusalem. After so many victories it was a cross bow bolt in the shoulder that killed him. As we was carried away from the field he saluted the man that had shot him. On his death bed he ordered that the man that shot him be set free and given a sum of money.
