Scissors are 3,500 years old. The first scissors made their appearance during ancient Egypt. These scissors were not the jointed types seen today but instead shears with a joint at the end of the handle. During the height of the Roman Empire Scissors were given their cross blade design. During Medieval Europe Scissors were in widespread use.

These Scissors are a reproduction from the 14th century. This design was originally Persian but came into vogue during the Middle Ages in Europe, first among the nobility and later among seamstresses.
