Product Description

"The world will know that free men stood against a tyrant, that few stood against many, and that before this battle is over, even a god-king can bleed. " -King Leonidas, 300 The battle of Thermopylae is the definition of a last stand. The Persian army, led by Xerxes, attempted to invade Greece. This was the second time that the Persian army had attempted to invade Greece, the first invasion was led by Xerxes father Darius (the first invasion failed). It is a fact that the Persian army significantly outnumbered the Greeks, however, the exact count of the Persian army is unknown. Herodotus estimated the Persian forces to be around 5 million, other sources mark the army at around 800,000. No matter the exact count of the Persians the Spartans that defended the pass knew that they were headed to sure death. For two and a half days a combined force of Greeks held off the Persians. On the last day the Greeks were betrayed and the Persian army circled around the Greeks. Most Greeks decided to withdraw leaving a small force of Thespians and Spartans. In the end the Spartans and Thespians were killed to a man. However, this battle was so costly to the Persians that it lead to their defeat in the Battle of Salamis. This ended the Persians invasion of Europe. This is the Spartan Helmet Replica 18 Gauge Steel. This helmet is similar to the one worn by King Leonidas.

-The helmet has been constructed from 18 gauge steel with a polished finish. -The front of the helmet has been detailed with a ridge lines. -The plum of the helmet is black horse hair. -The plum is easily mounted with two screws. Please Note that the Helmet does not include the Stand pictured.
