Product Description

It is interesting that within almost every culture of the world a story of Dragons can be found. From Europe to China and the Middle East Dragons are depicted as giant serpents. There are many theories to why all the worlds cultures have these stories and they range from dinosaur bones, to ancient flying machines. Although, there are no concrete theories it is interesting to note that famous historians of the ancient world reported seeing living dragons. Herodotus reported seeing caged dragons in Judea around 450 BC, and Marco Polo reported being attacked by dragons in Anatolia into Persia. The Dragon of the Orient differs from the Western dragon in that they are typically benevolent and wise. This dragon is also the ruler of the water and the weather. In China the Dragon was the symbol of the Emperor and for power. It is similar in Japan as well. However, in Japan the dragon only had three claws as opposed to its Chinese counter part which had four. For the Samurai the dragon was a symbol of luck and strength. This is a hand made Katana with a water dragon on the Tsuba. The sword is full tang with a copper Tsuba. The Katana includes a Gift Box and One Tier Sword Stand.

Blade: The blade of the sword is hand made Carbon Steel with a hamon along the edge of the blade. The edge of the blade is sharp enough to cut right through an edge of piece of paper. The blade is full tang and features a small kissake and bloodline. Saya (Scabbard): The saya of the sword is wooden with a brown glossy finish. A black sageo is wrapped around the sword with a wooden and steel Kurigata. Tsuba (Guard): The Tsuba is Copper with a Kaku Gata design. At the beginning of the Tsuba is a steel blade collar and Seppa. The actual Tsuba is a Japanese water dragon set against waves. The Tsuba features two Hitsu-ana on each side and another Seppa between the Fuchi and Tsuba. Tsuka (Handle): The Tsuka is REAL ray skin with a black nylon wrap. Two Menuki shaped like dragons are on each side of the Tsuka. The handle covers the full tang of the sword and two bamboo Mekugi secure the tang. The Kashira (pommel) is blackened steel with a pattern of waves.
